Editorial policy
Coastal Sport Culture aims to make coastal sport easier to understand, while being clear about what we know, what we are describing and where a correction may be needed.
Accuracy and clarity
We take care with names, terms and descriptions, and make reasonable efforts to check factual claims before publication. When a subject varies between places or sports, we say so rather than implying a single rule or custom applies everywhere.
Independence
Editorial decisions are made for their relevance to coastal sport culture. A commercial relationship does not buy favourable coverage, and any material created with a partner is identified clearly as partner material.
Corrections
If you spot an error, contact us through the Contact page and point to the passage in question. We review correction requests and update material when a change is warranted, making the correction clear to readers.
Images and illustrations
Images and illustrations are selected to support the subject and are not a substitute for accurate reporting. Some illustrations may be AI-generated; where relevant, they are identified so readers can distinguish an illustration from documentary imagery.
Place changes the way a game feels
A stretch of sand, a harbour wall or a salt-air ground gives sport its own setting. We look at the customs and choices that make coastal play distinct.
